Progressive party candidate Anthony Pollina has picked up the first labor endorsement in this year’s gubernatorial race.
The Ironworkers Local 7, which represents workers in Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts, offered to help Pollina with contributions and grassroots support.
“We are supporting him now and will support him down the line,” Damon Hall, a union member from Swanton said in a statement.
Hall said his union’s endorsement went to Pollina because he is focused on creating jobs and lowering the cost of health care.
“Anthony is committed to putting people to work, good jobs with good benefits, that is what we need most,” he said.
The endorsement came a day before Pollina is slated to meet with representatives of Vermont carpenters, plumbers and ironworkers to discuss jobs, the economy, and the state budget.
