With a less than stellar legislative record, what were those ads we got sick of last year… two bills in sixteen years, neither of any consequence… Yet, the Legend rolled the Billionaire. Sander’s, his own top advisor, and Jeff Weaver, his long time go-to aide, framed the debate and made sure everyone remembered that Tarrant wasn’t like them and he was a vote for Bush. From unlikely Mayor to US Senator, this race is a fitting crown for Bernie.

Run from Burlington, actually from the stories it sounds like it was run from two locations simultaneously wherever the candidate was and campaign manager Joe Trippi where and they where rarely together… The campaign’s organizational dysfunction was superseded by their strong and at the time lonely, anti-war message and their ability to mobilize an internet army. Despite the campaign’s inability to capture the Iowa caucus goers and the resulting Dean-scream incident, the Dean presidential campaign must be in the top 5 for its ability to change national political fundraising.

Salmon did more than just ride on dad’s name. He worked hard on the trail. He was seen on traffic circles across the state sign waiving his way to victory. Don’t laugh, when you take down a popular and successful incumbent by 102 votes everything counts. The question is if he will follow in his dad’s footsteps to the Governor’s office.

The biggest don’t mean they are the best but in this case Tarrant put together a solid campaign. Tarrant’s Senate bid at $8 million dollar is likely stay as the largest Vermont campaign for years. Tarrant was a much abler campaigner than many had predicted. He was able to build the strongest grassroots organization Republicans had seen in years. Tarrant also put out substantial ideas on changing Health Care and won the Free Press endorsement. The final tally was a blow-out for Sanders, but Tarrant as a first timer with Bush’s popularity in the cellar put together a top 10 campaign.

Carolyn Dwyer, the Leahy ace, led a solid campaign. Welch stayed with DCCC talking points to always make sure everyone remembered that he was against the war and Rainville was with the President. This formula worked and what looked like a competitive seat never materialized.
